The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
