The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
