Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 when the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 Aye! man against himself shall be an enlightenment. 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 But no. You love this transient life, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
