He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble, pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
