The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars darken, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
