The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 running in confusion towards the Summoning Voice; [and] those who [now] deny the truth will exclaim, "Calamitous is this Day!" 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
