The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 by the Visited House, 4 The roof raised high, 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
