The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
