Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 It will be the Day whereon in the Fire they will be burned 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness, 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 On the earth are signs for those of assured Faith, 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
