The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Beneficent 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created the human 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And the heaven! He hath elevated it, and He hath set the balance. 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 He spread out the earth for the people. 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
