The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
