Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul! 2 Does man imagine that We will not be able to bring his bones together again? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Rather, the human desires to continue in his immorality, 5 He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 Some people, certainly, do not believe in it, but when a person's soul reaches up to his throat 26 And it will be said: "Who can cure him and save him from death?" 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 and leg is intertwined with leg, 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
