The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
