They ask thee concerning the Spirit (of inspiration). Say: "The Spirit (cometh) by command of my Lord: of knowledge it is only a little that is communicated to you, (O men!)" 85 If We pleased, We would certainly take away that which We have revealed to you, then you would find no guardian for you against Us, 86 except through the special mercy of your Lord. His favours towards you has been great indeed. 87 Say: If men and jinn should combine together to bring the like of this Quran, they could not bring the like of it, though some of them were aiders of others. 88 And indeed We have fully explained to mankind, in this Quran, every kind of similitude, but most mankind refuse (the truth and accept nothing) but disbelief. 89 And say: "We will not believe you until you make a spring of water gush forth from the earth for us; 90 Or [until] you have a garden of palm tress and grapes and make rivers gush forth within them in force [and abundance] 91 Or thou causest the heaven to fall upon us, as thou assertest, in pieces, or thou bringest God and the angels face to face. 92 or, until you possess an ornate house of gold, or ascend into the heavens; and we will not believe in your ascension until you have brought down for us a book which we can read' Say: 'Exaltations to my Lord! Am I anything except a human Messenger' 93
