The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And your garments do purify, 4 stay away from sins 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 and who still desires more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 He looked (at others); 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire. We have specified their number only as a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth, so that those who were given the Book might gain in certainty, and those who believe might increase in faith -- and so that neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers might have any doubts, and that those sick at heart and those who deny the truth might ask, "What does God mean by this parable?" In this way, God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. And none knows the forces of your Lord but He. This is but a Reminder for man. 31
