The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
