The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 for those on the Right, 38
