I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 a warning to mortal man 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 About the criminals, 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
