The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO witness the star of the pleiades when it has dipped 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 that [which he conveys to you] is but [a divine] inspiration with which he is being inspired 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 two bows' length away, or nearer, 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 So did you observe the idols Lat and Uzza? 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 Is it for you the males and for Him the females? 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
