The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
