The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 And the second followeth it, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 and gathered his people together 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
