The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 on a Great Day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
