The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Ra. Those are the signs of the Book and of a manifest Koran. 1 Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam. 2 Leave them alone; let them eat and enjoy themselves the while the hope [of vain delights] beguiles them: for in time they will come to know [the truth]. 3 And We have not destroyed a town but there was therefor a decree known. 4 No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter. 5 (The unbelievers have said), "You to whom the Quran has been revealed are insane. 6 Why bringest thou not angels unto us, if thou art of the truthful? 7 We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated. 8 As for the Admonition, indeed it is We Who have revealed it and it is indeed We Who are its guardians. 9 We have sent forth before you Messengers among the factions of the ancients. 10 No Messenger went to them whom they did not mock. 11 Even so we make a way for it in the hearts of the culprits. 12 They will not believe in it, though they have before them the example of former peoples, 13 And if We opened upon them a door of the heaven, and they passed the day mounting thereto. 14 yet would they say, 'Our eyes have been dazzled; nay, we are a people bewitched!' 15
