And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 "And He will give me death, then resurrect me." 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 Do not betray me 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 "And none misled us but the guilty." 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
