Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 which then smoothly speed along, 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 May the conjecturers perish, 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 They shall receive what their Lord will bestow on them. They have done good works in the past, 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision, and that which you are promised. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
