The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
