The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And shade extended 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
