Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ (Muhammad), say, "It has been revealed to me that a party of jinn has listened (to the recitation) of the Quran and has told (their people), "We heard an amazing reading 1 Which guides to the right path; and we have come to believe in it, and will not associate any one with our Lord. 2 our Lord is too exalted to have either a wife or son. 3 And the foolish among us were wont to forge lies against Allah exceedingly. 4 ‘Whereas we thought that men and jinns would never fabricate a lie against Allah!’ 5 But some men used to seek refuge with some jinns, and this increased their waywardness; 6 They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. 7 And (the Jinn who had listened to the Qur'an said): We had sought the heaven but had found it filled with strong warders and meteors. 8 'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 ‘And we do not know whether harm is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends goodness for them.’ 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 Now that we have listened to the guidance, we believe in it. Whoever believes in his Lord does not need to fear loss or oppression. 13 Some of us have come to submission, and some of us are iniquitous.'" Those who have submitted have taken the right course; 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 And proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “I have received the divine revelation that ‘Had they remained upright on the straight path, We would have given them abundant water.’ 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone. 18 And when the bondman of Allah stood calling upon Him, they well nigh pressed on him stifling. 19
