Nay, by the Moon 32 by the retreating night, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 except the people of the right hand 39 in Gardens they will question 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
