The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 that hide, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
