And (remember) when your Lord said to Moosa, “Go to the unjust people.” 10 The folk of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)? 11 He said: "My Lord! I fear that they will brand me a liar. 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me." 14 He said: Nay, verily. So go ye twain with Our tokens. Lo! We shall be with you, Hearing. 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? 18 And thou didst the deed thou didst, being one of the ungrateful!' 19 Said he, 'Indeed I did it then, being one of those that stray; 20 So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. 21 "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 The Pharaoh asked: "And what is the Lord of all the worlds?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." 24 (Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not? 25 (Moses continued): "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers before you." 26 [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." 27 [But Moses] went on: "[He of whom I speak is] the Sustainer of the east and the west and of all that is between the two - as you would know]" if you would but use your reason!" 28 Fir'awn said: if thou wilt take a god other than me, I shall surely place thee among the prisoners. 29 Said he: "Even if I should bring about before thee something that clearly shows the truth?" 30 Pharaoh said, "Show it then, if you are telling the truth!" 31 So he cast down his rod, and lo! it was an obvious serpent, 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it was white to the beholders. 33
