Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 It will be the Day whereon in the Fire they will be burned 13 And it will be said to them, “Taste your own roasting; this is what you were impatient for.” 14 Indeed the pious are among Gardens and water springs. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
