The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right. 38
