Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and brightening morning, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
