Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city. 1 And you are free to live upon it, -- 2 And the begetter and that which he begat, 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that none has power over him! 5 He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 a tongue, and two lips, 9 And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? 10 Yet he has not assaulted the steep; 11 And what have you understood, what the valley is! 12 It is freeing the neck, 13 Or, feeding, in a day of privation, 14 Of a related orphan, 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 and the Fire will close in on them. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
