S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an containing reminder... 1 Nay! those who disbelieve are in self-exaltation and opposition. 2 How many a generation We have destroyed before them, and they cried out when there was no longer time for escape! 3 So they wonder that a Warner has come to them from among themselves! and the Unbelievers say, "This is a sorcerer telling lies! 4 Does he claim that all the deities are [but] one God? Verily, a most strange thing is this!" 5 The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. 6 Never did we hear of [a claim like] this in any faith of latter days! It is nothing but [a mortal man's] invention! 7 Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. 8 Or do they hold the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or is theirs the kingdom of the heavens and earth and of what between them is? Why, then let them ascend the cords! 10 But there - will be put to flight even a host of confederates. 11 Before them (were many who) belied Messengers, the people of Nuh (Noah); and 'Ad; and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) the man of stakes (with which he used to punish the people), 12 and the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the Wood -- these were the confederates. 13 Not one of them but did deny the messengers, therefor My doom was justified, 14
