He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attend to him, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And he fears, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
