The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I secretly plan. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
