The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
