۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
