A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. 1 This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 And how many a township We have destroyed, upon them Our violence came at night or while they were taking their midday rest. 4 and when Our scourge fell upon them, their only cry was, "We were indeed wrongdoers!" 5 Then verily We shall question those unto whom (Our message) hath been sent, and verily We shall question the messengers. 6 and thereupon We shall most certainly reveal unto them Our knowledge [of their doings]: for never have We been absent [from them]. 7 And the weighing on that day (Day of Resurrection) will be the true (weighing). So as for those whose scale (of good deeds) will be heavy, they will be the successful (by entering Paradise). 8 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their soul for wronging Our signs. 9 And assuredly We established you in the earth and appointed for you livelihoods therein; yet little thanks ye return. 10
