By the moon, 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning for people -- 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 we fed not the needy, 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
