The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
