The nobles of Pharaoh said: "He surely is a clever magician. 109 "His plan is to get you out of your land: then what is it ye counsel?" 110 They said (unto Pharaoh): Put him off (a while) - him and his brother - and send into the cities summoners, 111 to summon every wellversed sorcerer to you' 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and said: 'Shall we have a reward if we win?' 113 "Yes," said he, "you will be among the honoured." 114 They said, 'Moses, wilt thou cast, or shall we be the casters?' 115 He said: cast ye. Then when they cast down, they enchanted the eyes of the people, and terrified them and brought mighty magic to bear. 116 We put it into Moses's mind by inspiration: "Throw (now) thy rod": and behold! it swallows up straight away all the falsehoods which they fake! 117 ۞ So the truth was proved and their works were disproved. 118 Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated. 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 121 The Lord of Musa and Harun. 122 But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know. 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on the alternate sides and crucify you all." 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 And what is it for which thou takest vengeance on us save that we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came unto us? Our Lord! pour out upon us perseverance and cause us to die as Muslims. 126
