۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
