The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 purify your garments; 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 So that is a tough day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 and children living in his presence, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
