The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Alif Lam Mim. 1 This is the Book (the Quran), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqun [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)]. 2 Those who believe in the unseen and keep up prayer and spend out of what We have given them. 3 And who believe in that which has been bestowed from on high upon thee, [O Prophet,] as well as in that which was bestowed before thy time: for it is they who in their innermost are certain of the life to come! 4 These depend on guidance from their Lord. These are the successful. 5 As for the Disbelievers, Whether thou warn them or thou warn them not it is all one for them; they believe not. 6 God has sealed their hearts and their hearing, and over their eyes is a veil; and awesome suffering awaits them. 7
