Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 in an exalted garden 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
