The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
