The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
